Hype: The Time Quest
Hype: The Time Quest is an adventure video game developed by Ubi Soft Montreal and published by Ubi Soft Entertainment. The game, released in the year 1999 along with Alex Builds His Farm (1999), is based on the medieval castle toy series from Playmobil. The U.S. version of the Game Boy Color version was supposed to be released in June 2000, but was delayed for over a year for some reason. The game revolves around Hype, a 22-year-old knight in the service of King Taskan IV, following a quest through time to return to his own era in order to save the kingdom from the evil black knight Barnak. The game was directed by Alain Tascan and featured thirty-two different voice actors, as well as original music by Robbi Finkel.

About This Game
During a royal ceremony honoring Hype for his service to King Taskan IV, a mysterious black knight riding a dragon appears and demands the throne. When Hype steps forward to challenge him, the knight petrifies him with powerful magic and casts him two centuries into the past. A young apprentice wizard named Gogoud eventually restores Hype to life. Together they discover that to return to his own era, Hype must gather jewels hidden across three earlier historical periods, each one advancing him a single leap forward through time. Allies like the dragon Zatila and brigand leader Karon join the journey, while a growing roster of enemies — wizards, black guards, and the dreaded Barnak himself — stand in the way. When Hype finally reaches home, he finds Barnak has conquered the kingdom and enslaved its people, forcing them to worship him as a god. Hype and his betrothed Vibe rally an army for one final uprising to break Barnak's hold on the land.
