7 Blades

Adapted from the 1990 film Zipang, directed by Kaizo Hayashi, the game takes place in mid-17th century Japan during the period when the Tokugawa shogunate was consolidating its power. The setting is Dejima, the man-made island the Japanese government used to house Western foreigners, where a Christian group is attempting to break away from the rest of the country. The main character, Gokurakumaru, is a violent mercenary and poor womanizer who travels with his gun-wielding love interest Oyuri and his sidekick Togizo, who provides comic relief and carries the swords as Gokurakumaru collects them one by one throughout the game.
