A century after the first game, the realm of Kyou is fracturing under a bitter power struggle between the Emperor and the retired Emperor. As fear of an approaching apocalypse spreads, the Dragon God's Priestess is summoned — a modern high school girl named Karin, yanked from her everyday life into a role she never sought. She is not alone: eight men known as the Hachijou are designated as her guardians. But they are reluctant, bound to a rival priestess recognized by the retired Emperor, and deeply skeptical that Karin is the real one.
