The Legend of Swordman reimagines Seasun's 1997 role-playing classic Sword Heroes' Fate, transporting players into the turbulent martial arts world of the Southern Song Dynasty. Where its predecessor focused on a personal narrative, this installment is anchored in genuine historical events, using them as the stage for a series of dramatic Jianghu conflicts. The story begins in autumn 1126, when the Jin Dynasty launched a devastating invasion of the Northern Song. Emperor Huizong and Emperor Qinzong were captured in the catastrophic Jingkang Incident the following year. The Southern Song was established by Zhao Gou — the ninth son of Huizong — first in Nanjing, then relocated to Lin'an, where patriotic generals like Yue Fei and Han Shizhong waged fierce resistance to hold the dynasty together. What history rarely records is that countless warriors of the Jianghu also fought and died for the Song cause. The cast blends real historical figures — including Yue Fei, Han Shizhong, his wife Liang Hongyu, and the treacherous Qin Hui — with legendary martial heroes such as Dugu Jian, Zhang Linxin, Zhang Rumeng, Nangong Caihong, and Yang Ying. A hidden weapons system introduces new tactical depth alongside the series' existing combat mechanics. The narrative unfolds from 1139, when word arrives of a pivotal assassination: Jin Prime Minister Da Lan is dead — and the consequences will reshape the fate of the Southern Song.
