After a punishing stretch of study and exams, Tomoko's mother arranges a two-week break in March: a stay with her grandparents on an island in Okinawa. Tomoko is not enthusiastic at first. The island moves at a different pace, introduces new people, and offers activities she did not expect to enjoy. She gradually comes around.
