Novistrana is a fictional post-Soviet breakaway state where political power is everything and the ideological spectrum is genuinely wide. Buildings and street names echo real Eastern European design; the characters speak a fictional language with Ukrainian and Russian flavoring; and the nation's churches are Eastern Orthodox. Police brutality and corruption are normalized, and class largely determines where citizens fall on the ideological map. Novistrana even has its own fictional Cyrillic-derived alphabet and a national anthem — the name itself translates roughly as "New Country" or "New Party" depending on the Slavic language you reference. Republic: The Revolution puts players inside this powder keg of competing factions all vying for control.
