Kite is new to The World, an online multiplayer game, and came to play alongside his school friend Orca. Their session is cut short when an unknown monster attacks, chasing Orca down — and when Orca falls in the encounter, something impossible follows: he does not simply lose his character, he slips into a coma in the real world. A corrupted email arrives asking for help. Unable to explain how a game could do this, Kite ventures back into The World with two new allies, searching for answers and a way to bring Orca back.
