Sonic Rush

The story opens as Blaze the Cat — an aloof princess from an alternate dimension — appears in Sonic's world. Her own world depends for its survival on the seven Sol Emeralds, gems akin to the Chaos Emeralds, but Dr. Eggman has stolen them, and while chasing him Blaze was swept by a flash of light into Sonic's dimension. Vowing to recover the Emeralds herself, she confronts Eggman, who boasts that he needs them to unlock ultimate power; enraged, Blaze defeats him and reclaims one Emerald, though the doctor escapes, leaving her determined to find the rest. Alone and unsure how to recover the Sol Emeralds or return home, Blaze spots Cream the Rabbit and her companion Cheese hiding in the bushes, and is taken aback by the young rabbit's eager friendliness. Invited to Cream's home for tea, Blaze is persuaded by Vanilla and Cream to let Cream serve as her local guide, though she stubbornly rejects their advice to seek out Sonic's help, certain she can manage alone — and remains largely indifferent to Cream's attempts at friendship. Meanwhile, Sonic encounters Eggman mid-run, defeats him, and finds a dropped Sol Emerald, only for Blaze to appear, reclaim it, thank him, and depart. Baffled, Sonic teams up with Tails to puzzle out what's going on while gathering the Chaos Emeralds.
