Battles of Prince of Persia bridges the gap between Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The story spans three territories — Persia, India, and the fictional land of Aresura — as three generals from each region send forces to fight their wars. The Prince finds himself hunted by the Dahaka, an incarnation of fate pursuing him for cheating death when he altered the flow of time.
His efforts to evade the Dahaka inadvertently ignite a war between Persia and India. Over the course of the campaign he crosses swords with the Deavas — a mythical race of demons released from a box he opens — and with Kalim, the Prince of India and brother to Farah, the woman he loves. The constant conflict leaves the Prince darker and more hardened, and the story fills in key details about his transformation between the two games in the Sands of Time trilogy.
