Makoto Iikubo travels to the rural northern town of Gennomori at the direction of Kadomi Miyaoka, a bookseller who presents herself as beautiful and self-assured. Miyaoka instructs him to look into a sacred object and a local festival that may be connected to a mysterious documentary collective called Gekkyocho. While investigating, Makoto meets Kinu — who claims to have been a childhood friend of someone named Shingon — and Touka, a girl with one eye. The three pursue the investigation together. Information arrives in fragments. Something in the town is interfering with perception. A name surfaces through the distortion: Shizuku.
