Zycloboo is a one-eyed Big Boo with a plan for the Mushroom Kingdom: use the power source from a dimension called the Second Reality — the same source Bowser tried to exploit in the first game — to conquer it. Step one: remove Mario from the equation. Zycloboo warps Mario and his castle directly into the Second Reality. Mario's only path back through is finding the Power Supply station. Zycloboo told him this himself, which may or may not be the full story.
