The world holds three kingdoms: Red, White, and Blue. Alongside humans live highly advanced dolls — some nearly indistinguishable from people — who require periodic maintenance from specialists called tuners. Wakaba, a young playwright, is writing a controversial piece about Ein, a figure from the White Kingdom's history who killed the ruler Christina and has been labeled a traitor ever since. Wakaba's play argues the opposite: that Ein was Christina's most loyal ally. Traveling with her brother Light and their friend Cero to get his doll Coco serviced, Wakaba is still looking for people to perform the piece. On the road she meets Belle — a doll with a single white wing — and an aspiring actress named Angelina.
