Following his victory in God of War, Kratos leads his Spartan army on a sweeping campaign across Greece. The offensive is disrupted by Argos, a giant beast dispatched by Hera to halt the carnage—but before Kratos can deal the killing blow, an unknown assassin strikes Argos down, framing Kratos in the eyes of the Olympian gods. Pursuing the assassin through Greece while fighting off waves of Hades' minions, Kratos is intercepted by Ceryx, son of Hermes, carrying a direct message from Zeus demanding he cease his destruction. Kratos refuses, defeats Ceryx, and kills him—a decision that silences the gods for now but guarantees Zeus will eventually move against him.
