In 1960, a plane goes down in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, leaving one man — Jack — as the lone survivor. As if by sheer luck, he surfaces right beside what appears to be the entrance to an underwater complex. Jack steps through without hesitation and is met by slogans glorifying Rapture, a free-will paradise built in the 1940s by the business magnate Andrew Ryan. But before he can even absorb what he's seeing, his descent into this supposed utopia ends in ruin and chaos. Uncovering what became of Rapture becomes Jack's driving purpose as he struggles to survive the horrors that unchecked freedom can spawn.
