Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2

Released2008
Far Cry 2 is an open-world first-person shooter set in an unnamed African country. Players take the role of a mercenary who roams a large environment of desert, savannah, and jungle, completing missions for rival factions and allied characters known as Buddies. Missions can be approached through direct assault or stealth, and the game emphasizes systemic, reactive elements such as spreading fire, degrading scavenged weapons, and enemies that respond to the player's tactics. Survival mechanics feature heavily, including recurring bouts of malaria that must be treated with medicine and companions who can be lost permanently if not helped in time. A competitive multiplayer mode and a level editor are also included.

About This Game

A mercenary arrives in a war-ravaged African country caught between two brutal factions, each seeking to control the land and its people through violence. The driving force behind this conflict is the Jackal, a mysterious arms dealer whose weapons perpetuate the bloodshed, and the mercenary's mission is to hunt him down. Immediately upon arrival, fever from malaria strikes the protagonist down, and a harrowing encounter with the Jackal himself sets the stakes impossibly high. To survive in this hostile landscape and close in on his quarry, the mercenary must navigate a treacherous path—accepting contracts from both warring sides, scrounging for supplies, and staying one step ahead of those who want him dead.
