Shikanosuke Maejima attends Oubi Academy and has reduced his life to showing up at his part-time job and little else. Then he meets Kirari Shiino at work, and before he has time to consider the implications, they have formed a punk band. The group expands to include his childhood friend Chie Isurugi and the rich, delicate Sarina Kashiwara — all nominally members of the Second Literature Club, which was already scheduled for dissolution. The Culture Festival gives them a reason to perform. It goes better than any of them expected, well enough to hit the internet and generate invitations from venues across the country. The obstacle is serious: exams are coming, parents are opposed, and the four of them are staring at the possibility of a long van tour of Japan — the kind of adventure that is not guaranteed to end well, but that none of them can bring themselves to decline.
