Engineer Franco Delile and his partner Sarah respond to what seems like a routine maintenance call on the Sprawl—a space station carved from a shard of Saturn's moon Titan—and immediately find evidence that the damage they are sent to fix was deliberate. As they move between jobs, they stumble into a Necromorph outbreak rapidly consuming the station. Their increasingly desperate repair missions serve a dual purpose: keeping the Sprawl functional long enough to find other survivors, and staying alive through choices that ultimately determine Sarah's fate. The story ends with Franco reaching the hospital wing and reviving the comatose Isaac Clarke—picking up directly at the opening of Dead Space 2.
