A year and a half after Lute Hende — lowest-ranked graduate of the Knight Academy — took the throne of Edelland, his kingdom has repelled an invasion from neighboring Lingobard. The defeated king Bazalt I is not letting it go. At the same time, the grand chamberlain of the Kingdom of Fronce is quietly working to destroy Edelland's growing influence, and the State of Vacatin's Church of Holy Rood is voicing theological objections to Lute's succubus queen-consort Shamsiel.
