Fight Night Champion

Andre Bishop is a boxer serving time in a correctional facility. After winning a jailhouse bout against another inmate, he's cornered and savagely beaten by several prisoners, his opponent among them, and wakes badly injured. The story then jumps back four years to chart his rise as a professional fighter. Bishop's pro career takes off after he beats nine-time amateur champion Joel Savon, earning recognition as a real contender. Following a string of wins, he and his trainer, Gus Carisi, are approached by DL McQueen — a famed promoter and old enemy of Carisi — who offers to promote Andre under his daughter Meagan's management. When they refuse, a feud erupts: McQueen keeps pushing for a deal, is rebuffed each time, and finally frames Andre for assaulting a police officer with the help of two crooked cops, landing him a sentence of more than five years. Behind bars, after being framed and ambushed again in the showers, Andre recovers and trains himself to stay sharp, furious to learn that his brother Raymond has become a professional heavyweight under McQueen Promotions — the very company that framed him. Once released, Raymond arranges a job for him as an assistant trainer, and now a focused heavyweight, Andre beats two ranked fighters in sparring. Meagan, having split from her father's business, offers to secure him a new license, and Gus returns to help engineer his comeback. After several wins, Raymond challenges Andre to a bout for a shot at world champion Isaac Frost; Andre goes down and stays down to give his brother the chance, but Raymond is knocked out by Frost in the first round. Enraged, Andre challenges Frost himself and defeats him by KO to become world heavyweight champion — and McQueen is arrested once his role in framing Andre comes to light.
