On the planet Era, every person is bound to one of the Seven Deadly Sins before their first birthday through the Nexus Ritual. To succumb to that sin is to transform into a mindless, aggressive beast — and the Arkhons, religious enforcers, ensure compliance and destroy those who fall. When a woman gives birth to twins for the first time in recorded history, the Prime Arkhon performs the ritual himself — and something goes wrong. One twin is bound to all seven sins; the other receives none. Raised as Arkhon apprentices and never permitted to leave the sanctuary, the day comes when Leht escapes.
