In this strategy simulation, players assume control of El Presidente, a dictatorial figure presiding over a fictional Caribbean island nation during the Cold War's ideological tensions. Tasked with constructing and administering an entire banana republic across a series of campaigns, the player must juggle economic development while navigating the conflicting interests of powerful groups—communists and capitalists, military hardliners, environmental activists, and religious institutions all vying for influence. When a murder accusation leads to El Presidente's dramatic removal from office, he must escape into exile and methodically rebuild his political faction while unraveling the conspiracy that orchestrated his demise, setting the stage for a potential return to power.
