The Lake Lady

Salvio Shen is a celebrated surgeon returning to his hometown after years abroad — only to find that his girlfriend has died in a flood during his absence. Grief draws him to Hongqiang Hospital, a public-private institution built from a flood shelter five years earlier and quietly controlled by the Medical Bureau Director and the hospital's director. He fights his way into the infamous Ward No. 9, a ward rumored to be haunted and connected to a string of missing children in the area. The patients there are all children, and Salvio forms bonds with them as he begins to investigate. His suspicions intensify when his own daughter's name appears on the missing list. With the help of his girlfriend's sister, a university friend, and a single mother whose child has also vanished, Salvio closes in on a truth that implicates organ trafficking, institutional corruption, and something far more sinister than a ghost story.
