Overlord Zetta learns his Netherworld is fated to be destroyed — and that his own foolishness will cause it. Furious, he burns the Sacred Tome that predicts this, which immediately triggers the prophecy. He saves himself by sealing his soul inside the tome before it is destroyed, then spends years convincing the Overlords of rival Netherworlds to write wishes in his pages and restore his world through them. Along the way he is supposedly cursed by a godlike entity called The One, his former pupil Salome reappears to ask him to marry her, and a battle with her ends in her death — which was already coming: she had been secretly giving Zetta her own mana out of unrequited love. The spirit of the Sacred Tome, Trenia, eventually decides Zetta has grown enough to deserve his body back. He revives Salome. The true identity of The One turns out to be Ophelia.
