Classic Marathon Infinity

Classic Marathon Infinity

Released2012
From the team that brought you Aleph One, the classic sci-fi FPS Marathon Infinity from Bungie on Mac revived for modern hardware by the fan community. Marathon Infinity takes the closed universe of the Marathon series and blows it wide open. The solo/co-op campaign, “Blood Tides of Lh’owon,” is a 20-level scenario sporting new textures, weapons, and enemies. More than that, the scenario sheds a surprising new light on the story’s characters and the meaning of events. Having defeated the Pfhor and reawakened the ancient remnants of the S’pht, the player now faces a world where friends become enemies and all is not what it seems… This classic 1996 Bungie FPS is now maintained by the fan community. Experience authentic game play using the original data files, with achievements, optional widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation, just in case the original is too authentic.

About This Game

The story — titled "Blood Tides of Lh'owon" — begins as if the events of Marathon 2 never happened. The central threat is the W'rkncacnter: an ancient entity of pure chaos, sealed inside Lh'owon's sun by the Jjaro eons ago. The Pfhor have fired their "early nova" device at that sun to destroy it, which risks releasing the W'rkncacnter into the world. The player jumps between alternate realities — apparently caused by Jjaro technology or the W'rkncacnter's own chaotic nature — attempting to prevent the release before it becomes irreversible. The opening places the player under Durandal's command; almost immediately, a reality shift moves them to a world where Durandal never rescued them at the end of the first Marathon, putting the Pfhor-controlled AI Tycho in charge of their fate instead.
