St. Alexia is a small monarchical country where the Special Security Corps—the SS—under Commander Jearl Gabriela faces off against the mafia organization Evening Star, led by Belial de Clan. Luciel Evlis has been called "Eve, the one who brings misfortune" since childhood, and has lived accordingly—alone, ostracized, defined by the label. A scholarship to Vace military academy gives her a path upward. She earns a leadership position and begins working under Jearl—and then something happens that forces her to choose between the SS angels she has idolized and the Evening Star devils who, inexplicably, seem to believe in her.
