Rose Dinoire is the only daughter of the demon lord who rules from a dark castle at the edge of the continent. Her father receives an oracle from the God of Darkness and departs—prematurely, in everyone's estimation—leaving Rose to ascend the demonic throne before she was ready. The demons under her rule kill humans for sport, which means the humans view them with well-founded hostility. Rose has always been emotionally attached to humans. Becoming the demon lord they deserve, while remaining the person she actually is, may not be possible.
