While chasing down Doctor Eggman, Sonic and his companions—Tails, Knuckles, and Amy—accidentally unearth an ancient tomb whose cryptic inscriptions hint at a connection to their own fates. The excavation triggers a catastrophic awakening: Lyric, the sole survivor of a forgotten civilization, emerges from his centuries-long imprisonment with a singular obsession—collecting the legendary Chaos Crystals scattered across the world. Should this primordial tyrant succeed in his quest, the consequences for civilization itself could prove apocalyptic. Forced to recognize that Eggman pales in comparison to this existential threat, the four heroes must leverage their complementary talents and explore treacherous terrain to intercept Lyric and secure the Crystals before his dark vision becomes reality.
