In 1954, Godzilla's first emergence gave humanity an unexpected resource: G-Energy, harvested from the creature and built into Japan's infrastructure over the following decades. Sixty years later, Godzilla returns—drawn by the G-Energy generators now scattered across the country—and carves through a succession of Kaiju that appear in his wake. Humanity's counter-weapon, constructed over those same six decades, is either Super Mechagodzilla or Kiryu depending on difficulty—but even after Godzilla defeats it and destroys the last generators, the energy absorbed pushes him into critical mass as Burning Godzilla. A combined effort by the Super X3 and the Gotengo manages to freeze him, and Kiryu carries the frozen giant out to sea, where both sink together.
