Five hundred years ago, Shang Tsung corrupted a sacred Shaolin fighting tournament that had been held every fifty years for generations. With Prince Goro—a four-armed Shokan warrior of extraordinary power—as his champion, Shang arranged for Goro to defeat the great Kung Lao and claim the tournament. Goro has been undefeated champion ever since. If ten consecutive tournaments are won by Outworld, Earth Realm falls to evil. The tenth is approaching. Raiden, Thunder God and Earth's protector, recruits seven fighters to stop it: Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Kano, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Raiden himself.
