A rookie reporter at a publishing company is selected for an unusual assignment: cover the New-Generation Players Grand Prix, in which thirty U-17 Japanese tennis representative candidates compete over seven days for the top ranking, with the final number-one spot chosen by reader votes on her articles. She has seven days to get close enough to thirty athletes to report on their true selves—and the attention her articles generate changes the rankings in real time as she files them. By the final day, something more than journalism has developed.
