A ghost has built a comfortable, quietly affectionate relationship with the living person renting the home they haunt. The roommate actually sought this house out because it was rumored to be haunted. The ghost manages to communicate their presence in small ways — knocking things over now and then — but has no means of speaking directly. One night, the ghost notices someone outside, watching the house from the street. The power goes out. The stranger moves to the window. For the first time ever, the ghost communicates directly with their roommate — by screaming directly into his face. It was not ideal. It may have been necessary.
