Mihara Suzu is heading to school with her childhood friends Otonari Kanade and Shizuma Souta, and her best friend Matsuri Ayame, when the student council president Aoba Taiga stops them with news: a student went missing the previous night. Before vanishing, he was seen acting unlike himself—violent, almost unrecognizable. The four of them don't have time to dwell on it before the first class bell rings. The next morning, they find the missing student in the schoolyard. His appearance is described as bizarre. He has been crucified. The mystery of what is possessing the students at Akarinkai, and why, has begun in earnest.
