Over the Hills and Far Away

War of 1812, Northwest Frontier. William Aubrey, a rogue soldier of the 41st Regiment of Foot, is wounded, exhausted, and hiding from a storm inside an abandoned barn. He is not alone: a young Shawnee girl named Mai is sheltering from the same rain. With the storm still raging and both of them stuck, an uneasy truce forms. Whether it survives the return to the world outside — and to the war — is the question the story explores.
