Teikoku Kaigun Koibojou: Meiji Yokosuka Koushinkyoku

The Meiji period, after the First Sino-Japanese War. Mihagi Sonoo has graduated from school and cannot find work. She hears that the Yokosuka Military Base is looking to hire artists and goes to the interview—but gets lost inside the building and accidentally walks in on the military band conducting a covert spy meeting. They catch her. With a secret to protect and a debt of employment to settle, both sides reach an arrangement: she becomes the band's artist-and-spy apprentice, drawing posters and doing general work while keeping their secret. When her superior officer Iyobe eventually orders her to join the actual spy missions, the career she accidentally stumbled into becomes the career she cannot leave.
