A girl who carries a copy of The Wizard of Oz everywhere arrives at the institute. She is cheerful and genuine—a personality that fills the room—but her body is weak and her movement limited. He cannot look at her situation and do nothing. Without planning it, he becomes her unofficial "three followers"—standing in as whatever she needs to keep her spirits up. His kindness makes her happier. It also makes her more convinced of something that may not be entirely true.
