It is 245 BCE. You have been invited to Alexandria to serve as tutor to Prince Ptolemy IV—the same prince who, in the history you know, fell under the influence of his evil advisor Sosibius and led the empire to ruin. Perhaps under your tutelage, it turns out differently. Or perhaps you abandon your responsibilities to collaborate with Archimedes and Euclid on inventions that could change the world: the steam engine, germ theory, robotic automata—centuries ahead of schedule. Choice of Alexandria is an interactive fiction in which the fate of the city of wonders depends entirely on which problems you decide to solve, including whether to be ransomed by the pirate queen Nefertari or persuade her to take a different view of the situation.
