Avaro is a magesmith—a specialist in building and restoring magical labyrinths—who took a job investigating ruins in Influse Kingdom and got buried in a cave-in before he could finish it. Lost underground, he found a girl sealed inside a magical stone. When she woke, she introduced herself as a Goddess named Fia who remembered nothing else about herself, knew she needed to reach the Mist Corridor of the Sacred Sound, and offered Avaro full use of the moving ruins as his personal workshop if he helped her get there. He agreed, uncertain whether anything she said was real. They set off northward together, and the rumors about the wandering fortress they call the Gualacuna began to spread.
