Dr. Wartor has released a hybrid army—magical owl-bear monsters bred for conquest—against the village. Pibi is a kobold, which is not the most imposing description, but he has a magical staff and a willingness to stand in the way of as many owl-bears as his fatigue allows. A survival game measured by how long one small defender can hold.
