In a near future where cyberization is commonplace, Hayate Kisaragi runs a small detective agency in his hometown despite graduating at the top of his prestigious Academy class. His current work involves lost pets and infidelity cases — until a request arrives from an old classmate, Adele Forgan. Her grandfather is gravely ill, and her relatives are dying one by one under suspicious circumstances. Each of the deceased reportedly mentioned seeing a woman in a red dress in the days before their deaths. Adele needs Hayate to protect her and her sisters, and to uncover the truth behind the curse known as the Crimson Lady. His Academy trainee Seraphina, relentless and persuasive, pushes him to accept. Together they enter the Forgan family mansion and begin following the shadow of the Crimson Lady.
