A historical fantasy set in the early nineteenth century Mediterranean, in the complicated aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars. The world of The Master of the Land changes in response to every action taken, with radically different playthroughs possible depending on choices. During a carnival, the protagonist Irene moves through a world of dancing, political conspiracy, and a ghost who weeps and follows everything. She finds herself both fascinated and appalled by what she is seeing—which is, perhaps, the only honest response to her era. A game built on power, paranoia, and the texture of historical contingency.
