A game programming teacher in Spain was challenged by a student to create a photogrammetry model and animate it over a weekend. He looked toward the kitchen and saw a cured ham leg. The photogrammetry of the ham leg became a small demo—a running ham crossing terrain, which was creepy and funny in equal measure. That demo became Meal Escape: a game where players control an escaping food item across three types of venues (restaurant, buffet, and family dining room), using Chutes and Ladders-style mechanics, item interaction, crowd creation, and hundreds of increasingly tricky levels. A Spanish indie game that began with a single meat product.
