Young Shingyoto-ryuu swordsman Hachirou receives a secret order: travel to Shimoda, collect a mysterious package from the great swordsman Nobutomo — a man revered by both his older brother and uncle — and deliver it to Kyoto. The package turns out to be an iron maiden-shaped box. More surprising is what steps out of it: a small, doll-like girl who regards him calmly, as if this were perfectly normal.
