In a desert so parched that even the regional plants are barely surviving, a nomad named Abuchi travels with a seedling she has found — something small and alive that deserves a chance to grow. Abuchi has a gift rare in this world: she can see sounds. Every bird call, every distant rumble of wind appears to her as a colorful fluid shape drifting near its source. And in Initen, sound is life energy — those visible shapes can be drawn in and used to revive lifeless vegetation. The desert can be healed. Abuchi is the only one who can do it.
