July 10, 2061. Nariyama City, Chiba. Yamanashi Sora has built a new radio from spare parts — just in time for the fifteenth anniversary of the day artificial pigeons began devouring all radio waves worldwide. Using the transceiver his father left him, Sora starts broadcasting for the first time. The next day, his radio picks up a transmission from the future: a news report announcing his own death in three weeks, in an accident at a ruined terminal he has avoided for fifteen years. He goes there anyway. Inside the crumbling building, overrun with artificial pigeons, a silver-haired girl is waiting. She looks straight at him. She tells him he will not die. She says she will not let it happen, because she wants him to look up at the sky and smile. This is how Yamanashi Sora and Hazuki Kaguya met.
