The Selenites arrived from the Moon and fought humanity for a decade before Hugo Wells crushed the colony's queen and ended the war. With their command structure gone, the surviving drone Selenites simply stayed, and the British Empire put them to work in the industrial sector. The human working class, freed from physical labor, found itself idle, restless, and increasingly difficult to manage. Hugo Wells devised Speed Brawl to address this: a high-speed athletic combat sport where human competitors race through obstacle courses while fighting Selenite workers for the entertainment of packed crowds.
