Nil Admirari no Tenbin: Irodori Nadeshiko

In this extended Taisho era, a young woman agrees to an arranged marriage to save her fading family — then her younger brother burns himself to death, holding an old book. The men of the Imperial Library Intelligence Asset Management Bureau appear at her door and explain that certain books, called Maremono, drive their readers toward destruction. Her brother's death has left her with an ability she did not ask for: she can see the Auras of these cursed texts as visible light. She steps out of the life she was confined to and into the darkness of the imperial capital — where jealousy, hatred, scorn, compassion, and betrayal are already in motion around her.
