Zero Killed

Zero Zone was once a thriving region — until Perunium was discovered beneath it. Governments and corporations raced to extract the superconductive element, destroyed the environment doing it, then declared the land neutral and abandoned it once the extraction was finished. What filled the vacuum were illegal miners, proxy wars between the factions that had already profited, and eventually the people who chose to stay — calling themselves Zeros, because to the outside world their deaths did not count as casualties. The news reported "zero killed." A few years later, only hardened professional Zeros remain. You are one of them.
