A lawyer pulls off a miracle in court, only to have the verdict cost him everything. Now, as a string of murders shrouds the city and the law itself begins to fail, justice cannot afford to be blind. Takayuki Yagami, the son of a murdered lawyer, was raised on the streets of Kamurocho by a yakuza patriarch who helped him follow in his late father's footsteps. Taking a job at the Genda Law Office, Yagami lands a high-profile case: proving murder suspect Shinpei Okubo innocent. Against all odds he succeeds and is hailed as a hero — but his triumph is short-lived. Only months later, Okubo brutally murders his own girlfriend, stabbing her more than ten times before setting their apartment ablaze, and Yagami becomes the lawyer who let a killer walk free, his career collapsing around him. Three years on, Yagami has traded his lawyer's badge for a small detective agency in Kamurocho's red-light district, scraping by on odd jobs and evidence work. But even this seedy city is rattled by a series of serial murders in which the victims are found with their eyes gouged out. Drawn into the case by his old law firm, Yagami realizes that to expose the killer he must finally chase down the truth that slipped through his fingers three years ago — if a man haunted by his failures can overcome his own past.
