Lara Croft comes across Q'orianka and Kumya in a heated dispute over the Shield of the Age Maker. Q'orianka — and the late Unuratu — believed it real; Kumya dismissed it as myth. Learning that Sinchi Chiqa, the first Emperor of Paititi and Unuratu's ancestor, created the shield and inscribed on it the ordination ritual that would confirm Unuratu's legitimacy and expose Amaru as a false god, Lara sets out to retrieve it. She passes the Path of Huracan, defeats Cult of Kukulkan warriors, and claims the shield — only to find its actual message undercuts the rebels: it states that anyone can forge their own destiny, which strengthens Amaru's position more than Unuratu's. Rather than risk shaking Unuratu's faith, Q'orianka burns it. In gratitude for Lara's courage, she presents Lara with her own bow.
