An old friend named Wendolyn — who used to run operations with Basso and the protagonist back in their thieving days — has sent a letter from the Wychwood border country. She believes a genuinely remarkable artifact is hidden nearby, nothing like the usual dusty relics. The road to Wychwood is long, and local superstition holds that the woods are full of evil.
